Outdoor Recreation in the Northwoods
A home at Red Fox Run has the priceless advantage of year round outdoor enjoyment.
Expansive forests and thousands of glacier lakes, meandering streams and rivers
define the magnificent Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Boating and Fishing
Glacier lakes, rivers and streams define the Northwoods.
Right within Red Fox Run, Brady Lake is wonderful for launching your
canoe or paddle boat and casting a line for pan fish, bass and blue gills.
Minutes away, the expansive Pelican Lake has 3,585 surface acres and deep waters,
a top spot in the state for trophy muskies and also a chance to catch bass,
perch, bluegill and crappie. Ice fishing is an exciting winter option at Lake
Alice near Tomahawk, for prize crappie and bluegill. Head northwest towards
Rhinelander and arrive at Crescent Lake and its boat ramp. The lake's
sparkling waters are filled with bluegill, bass, northern pike and walleye.
Close by, Squash Lake is a slightly quieter option that also has brook trout.
Lake Nokomis is the largest lake (2,433 acres) in the Tomahawk vicinity and is
part of a chain of lakes that includes Bridge and Deer Lakes; Lake Nokomis is
favored for boating and fantastic catches of musky and pan fish. The Wisconsin
River at Hodag Park in Rhinelander has miles of kayaking, water skiing and fishing.
Plenty of whitewater can be found along the rivers, including the Wausau Whitewater
Park, which has been named a Center for Excellence by the United States Canoe and Kayak team.
Winter Sports
Hundreds of miles of groomed trails through county forests in Langlade
County create a breathtaking opportunity for cross country skiing, snowshoeing,
snowmobiling and ATV fun. In warmer weather, the network of trails is perfect
for nature walks, mountain biking and hiking.
Best of all, each homesite at Red Fox Run has direct access to the trails.
Within just Langlade County, there is over 500 miles of state approved, groomed
snowmobile trails that travel through kettle lakes and bowls to tamarack swamps,
hardwood forests, pine plantations, winding rivers and streams, frozen lakes, and
rugged hills and hollows.
Just an hour north on Highway 45 lies Eagle River, the
Snowmobile Capitol of the World and home of the Eagle River 500. The numerous area
clubs groom and maintain a 500 mile trail network that winds through scenic forests
and over frozen lakes. The Moccasin Ski Trail runs through Langlade County land
and is groomed for traditional and skating style cross-country skiing, meandering
through two river basins and a vast black spruce swamp.

area courses include the acclaimed Northwood Golf Club, carved out of ancient
rocks, rolling hills and dense forests. Northwood was given 4 1/2 stars by
Golf Digest Places to Play. Pinewood Country Club has a 600 acre course built
in 1962 and is still family owned. St. Germain Golf Club is another 4 1/2 star
rated course that is carved between beautiful white and red pines, and the Inshalla
Country Club in Tomahawk also has an 18 hole course.

days of the lumberjacks – now a mascot for the city.

afternoon of shopping and dining. Tour the historic Warren District to view
beautiful homes from the Prairie School of Architecture, or catch a traveling

Art Museum to walk the outdoor sculpture garden. The Wausau Center Mall and
the brick paved Pedestrian Mall have wonderful specialty stores and boutiques.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company makes its home. Enjoy Bradley Park and Memorial
Park or visit Timm's Hill, Wisconsin's highest point.
